Gym coaching 50+
Personal trainer for people over 50
After 50, muscle strength declines unless you maintain it. The good news is that strength training works at any age, and there is still plenty of time to regain lost strength.
Your coach is an osteopath with a Master’s degree in Health Sciences (sports medicine) and over 30 years of experience. I take osteoarthritis, old injuries and back problems into account in every exercise choice.

Safe strength training that takes your age into account
Coaching starts with an initial assessment where we go through your goals, exercise history and health, as well as any medication, injuries and operations. Based on this, I design a personal training programme for you.
Training focuses on basic movements such as squats, deadlifts and presses, in variations that suit you. You learn the correct technique, and the loads are increased in a controlled way.
Sessions take place at R5 gym in Metsälä, and the gym entry fee is included. You do not need previous gym experience.
Benefits
Why strength training pays off
Muscle mass starts to decline after the age of 30–40 by about 3–8% per decade, and the rate speeds up after 60. Regular strength training is the most effective way to slow down the loss of strength.
- you keep and build muscle strength and mass
- balance and movement control improve, which helps prevent falls
- osteoarthritis and back pain often ease
- everyday tasks such as carrying shopping bags and getting up from the floor become easier
- you have more energy

How coaching works
You can start with a free consultation by phone or in person in Metsälä. Then we choose the option that suits you: single sessions or a coaching package.
For example, the 10-session package (about 3 months) is especially suitable if you are new to strength training and want a lasting lifestyle change. A personal training session costs €99 / 60 min, and you can find all packages on the personal trainer page.
