Scoliosis
Scoliosis and Osteopathy
Osteopathy uses a holistic, gentle and individualized approach that looks at how the body functions as a whole — not just the curvature of the spine (Selkäkanava).
When treating scoliosis, osteopaths use a range of hands-on techniques such as mobilization, soft-tissue massage, stretches and movement- and posture-based exercises.
These methods can ease pain, reduce muscle tension and improve mobility — even if they don’t correct the structural curve of the spine. Osteopathy is often used as a complementary therapy alongside exercise, supports or other treatments.

Osteopathy and scoliosis
Research on the effectiveness of osteopathy in treating scoliosis is limited. While individual case reports have described positive outcomes—such as reduced pain and improved function—larger controlled studies are still needed to confirm the evidence. Osteopathy can support the well-being and quality of life of people with scoliosis, but it is not considered a cure for structural scoliosis.
