Upper back pain
Upper back pain and osteopathy
Osteopathy can help with upper back pain in several ways because treatment focuses on examining the body as a whole and restoring balance. Upper back pain can stem from poor posture, muscle tightness, restricted mobility of the thoracic spine and ribs, or from stress.
The osteopath assesses thoracic spine mobility, breathing mechanics and how posture affects the whole body. Treatment uses soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisations and gentle methods that release tension and improve circulation and nervous system function. As a result, pain can ease, posture improve and breathing become easier.
In addition, the osteopath can guide personalised exercises to help maintain thoracic mobility and alignment in daily life. This way osteopathy offers both symptom relief and long-term support for upper back health.
